How to live
with grey hair
The grey you catch in the mirror, more of it each time
Hide it, work with it, colour it — the choice is yours
It starts with knowing what grey hair is
Why grey hair appears
Hair colour comes from melanin made at the root
The ability to make melanin is said to change with age, stress and constitution
It rarely happens all at once; it usually increases little by little from the hairline and temples, and heredity is thought to play a large part
Small hints for every day
- · Keep the scalp healthy: wash gently, rinse thoroughly
- · Protect hair and scalp from UV and dryness
- · Hair with grey dries out quickly, so keep moisture in mind
- · If you colour, do it at a salon that is gentle on hair and scalp
Hide it, soften it, colour it — which direction feels right is up to you. The care that suits you is found in the finder, or at the salon
How SEAM thinks
Grey hair is proof of the years you have lived, not something that must be hidden
Wearing it as grey hair, or colouring it light and enjoying that, are both lovely choices
SEAM does not argue against any of them. What matters is being able to choose what feels right, while caring for the hair and scalp the grey has come to

Frequently asked questions
- Does pulling out grey hair make more?
- Pulling one out is not said to increase the number of grey hairs. It does strain the follicle and scalp, though, so if it bothers you, cutting it short at the root is the better move
- Is grey coverage different from ordinary colour?
- The product changes depending on whether you want firm grey coverage or a colour you like the look of. Talking it through at the salon, around your hair and scalp, is the safe choice
- I want to move to grey hair
- This is the stage where the growing-out line is most noticeable. Highlights can soften it while you move across gradually. Going step by step with your salon is the way we suggest
